EC Phillips was born in the St. Olive Community in 1922 in Crocketts Bluff, Arkansas. He was the second boy in the family of nine. His parents were Margia Phillips and Lem Phillips. He went to school at Immanuel. He was the sixth child. As a child, he worked in the fields on his parents’ farm and he worked for other people in the community. He was always busy doing some sort of work.
EC worked at Pine Bluff Arsenal for a while before moving to California. He married Bertha Dillard Phillips. He had five sons. He lived in Santa Rosa, California. He worked at a Slaughter House in Santa Rosa where they processed different types of meats for the markets all over the world. He retired from his joy and moved back to Arkansas with his wife. His wife got ill and died. He moved back to Santa Rosa where until his passing.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, five sisters and four brothers.
He is survived by one brother, Samuel Phillips (Augustine) of San Francisco, California; one sister, Alice Butler of Stuttgart, Arkansas; with a host of grandchildren, nieces, cousins and many friends.
At the age of 95 he went home to be with the Lord. Visitation will be Friday, January 5, 2018 at Integrity Funeral Home chapel from 1pm to 2pm. Interment will be at St. Olive Cemetery, Crocketts Bluff, Arkansas.
