Thelma Smith was born January 15, 1932 to Gurfield and Van Yeates in Clarendon, Arkansas. She received her education in Clarendon, Arkansas also. She confessed a hope in Christ under Baptist faith at an early age. She married Willie James Smith in 1946 to the union two children, Linda Smith and Larry Smith, were born. Her occupation was a Nurse Aide and Domestic Worker. As a very skillful and... gifted seamstress she made most of all her clothing. She also enjoyed gardening and cooking. On July 21, 2017 at the age of 85 at Crest Park of Stuttgart she went to be with the Lord. She will be missed by all that knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Van and Gurfield Yeates; daughter Linda Smith; brother, Floyd Yeates and grandmother, Elizabeth Smith.
She leaves to cherish her memories; one son, Larry Smith; two granddaughters, Felicia Smith and Brand Smith all of Chicago, IL; one sister, Lizze Lee Cooperwood Betts of Little Rock, AR; five nieces, Flora (William) McPherson, Gereldine Betts of Stuttgart, AR; Vanessa Betts of Oxford, MS; Janice Dabner of Little Rock, AR and Armer (Lawrence) Burns of Grand Blanc, MI; one great nieces, Cynthia (Terrance) Hicks; great-great niece, Laikita Collins; nephews, Linnie Burns and Rufus Betts of Stuttgart, AR and Rev. James Betts III of Little Rock, AR; special friends, Jane and Jim Haugh, Anne McFea and Ollie Marlow of with a host of cousins and relatives.
