Welcome to the memorial page for

Martha Ellen "Marcella" Woods

May 27, 1953 ~ October 4, 2017 (age 64)

Martha Ellen Woods passionately known to those who loved her as “Marcella” was born May 27, 1953 to the late Ralph Briggs Sr. and Tiny Mae Jackson in Stuttgart, Arkansas.   She was later adopted by a loving couple, the late Albert and Lizzy Releford.

Martha attended Holman school system where she was a majorette.  On Oct 27, 1977 she was united in marriage to Mr. Donald Ray Woods, Sr.  She was employed at Bellville Shoe Factory in Dewitt, AR for several years.  In her leisure time, Marcella enjoyed attending Ricebirds’ sporting events and spending time with her daughter-in-law, Teri  Lynn.

At an early age, Sister Marcella confessed and regenerated her belief in Jesus Christ.  In 1985 she joined the congregants of Travelers’ Rest Missionary Baptist under the pastorate of the late Rev. Bobby Brasfield.   Early in her Christian journey she made up in her mind “I rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness. (Psalms 84:10)  Sister Marcella enjoyed serving in many capacities in the house of the Lord, to name a few- choir member and Usher Board President.   She was a faithful member and an extraordinary usher that adamantly believed in keeping order in the house of the Lord. She stayed faithful to her calling under the leadership of Pastor Debra Burton.  After keeping the door for many years at this Earth’s tabernacle, on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 Heaven gained a gracious and hospitable doorkeeper.
